Live, work & play in the place of your dreams

We believe humans must be more sustainable in their approach to creating homes and communities. To assist this change is our purpose and our passion. Greenplan supports your development vision from conception to completion.

About Greenplan

Our passion for ecological design and planning goes back a long way.

A genuine concern for the health, wellness and resilience of people and planet, has led to us becoming one of the most established and experienced ecological building design and planning firms in Canada with more than 600 residential and commercial projects to our credit.

Now, more than ever, we need to consider the impact of climate change on where we live and how we design with resiliency, comfort, affordability and sustainability in mind.

Since our first passive solar design in 1985, we have encouraged and promoted green building design and its community scale complement in green neighbourhoods.

Our team puts the “eco” back into economics in creative and constructive ways that provide long lasting benefits at prices that pay dividends for decades to come.

Our Team

Jack Anderson

For more than three decades, Jack Anderson, a fifth generation Nanaimo resident, has been encouraging a more sustainable approach to homes and communities.

His educational background includes architecture, urban planning and ecological community design.

Jack draws on two decades of experience with provincial and local government agencies, including the City of Nanaimo’s first Planning Department and later as park planner.

His behind-the-counter career also included many years within the Regional District of Nanaimo’s Building Inspection and Planning Departments.

Jack brings a vast array of knowledge and experience to his many clients and, with his Greenplan team, have designed more than 600 residential and commercial buildings since his first passive solar home in 1985. His passion is to create green homes and sustainable communities throughout Vancouver Island.

Keene Anderson

The eldest of Greenplan President Jack Anderson’s three sons, Keene grew up influenced by Jack’s passion. Keene graduated from the BBA program at VIU in 2009 with concentrations in Economics and Finance. He received his Permaculture Design Certificate in 2009 from OUR Ecovillage. Keene most often utilizes AutoCAD Architecture but is also proficient in SketchUp and Photoshop. As a passionate fisherman and kayaker, when not in the office he can usually be found either with a fly rod and paddle in hand or on an adventure with his two sons.

His artistic and building skills include cabinetmaking, printmaking, ceramics, graphic art and glassblowing, wooden casement windows, architectural glasswork, furniture and wood flooring manufacturing. Dale’s design and construction experience includes restaurants, neighbourhood pubs, private residences and specialized in heli-skiing resort design and construction.

Ralph Eisenkolb

Ralph draws on 20 years’ experience in design and drafting, as well as a background in the construction industry, for his role as a CAD Technician, code specialist and draftsman at Greenplan. Highly detail-oriented, Ralph is a CAD expert using Softplan, and utilizes skills from more than 10 years of hands-on experience in log building design. He is also a talented woodworker.

“For the sake of our grandchildren’s future, starting today we could reach individual and neighbourhood self reliance on this island if we combined our divine gift of creativity and imagination with existing and emerging technologies to create resilient communities focused on meeting all our basic needs.”
